The billeting space provided by Fort Monroe had great historic significance.
The building, known as "Quarters #1", was built in 1819 and during
the Civil War hosted a visit by President Lincoln. In the photo below AGFA
members assemble in front of the building on Sunday morning prior to heading
to their respective stations.
Quarters #1 also hosted the AGFA annual dinner and association meeting. The photo below shows the majority of our members in their Class A uniforms of the period (WWI or WWII).
This event established a partnership between the Casemate Museum and the Army Ground Forces Association. We look forward to events in the future supporting the Casemate Museum.
